As promised here are a few pics that I took today when exploring the temples near Siem Reap. As you can see they are magnificent structures with beautiful backdrop. I have to say the only concern I had was the sheer volume of tourists at some of the sites, and whether this will have lasting damage on the Temples. The temples form the largest religious structure in the world and if you would like some more info check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angkor_Wat . I love travelling and as I have said before, when I backpacked around the world in 2003/04 , the temples of Siem Reap were a real highlight. Over the next couple of days I will post you some of the photos that I have been lucky enough to take coming back a second time. There were a lot more tourists at this particular temple than last time but when you see the pictures you will see why. This shows off what a beautiful city Siem Reap is. Today has been another day of number , statistics and looking into a crystal ball trying to predict what will happen in 2011.

Rachel did really well with yesterdays homework and managed to compile the data in regards rooms revenues and occupancies for the past two years. She then pet those figures into a spreadsheet that we gave her, to work out Average Room Rate and then allow us to discuss a Budget for the rest of the year. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey Guys

Hope you are all well where ever you may be. I am currently sitting on the lovely balcony at Rosy’s Guesthouse overlooking Royal Palace gardens and watching the Siem Reap “rush hour”.

This morning started with budgeting! Ahhhhh i hear you cry and yes it is not much fun staring at Excel spreadsheets for hours. Rachel and I worked through the figures that the Guesthouse had historically recorded and how we can use them, and the accounts skills from yesterday, to help create a helpful budget for the guys at Rosys to plan their business for the next year.
